![]() ![]() The USB/DVD scan is good - when I ran the scan, it found all of the malware samples on my removable device. That said, once I’d purchased TuneUp, the scan worked well. Initially, it didn’t fix any of the performance issues and just prompted me to buy AVG TuneUp after it had finished running. I appreciate that AVG ran a performance scan, but if you haven’t bought the AVG Ultimate plan, the performance scan option is just there to try to upsell you (the tune-up tools are only included with Ultimate). Although it finished in 2 minutes and alerted me to over 82 PDF files that weren’t password-protected, it missed several malware samples I’d redownloaded and hidden on my computer. The smart scan, on the other hand, is a bit lacking. It took about 45 minutes to complete ( McAfee took 1 hour), and it had a perfect 100% malware detection rate. The deep scan scanned every file and folder on my computer for malware and even scanned my computer’s memory for rootkits.
